Architectural performance resides in the complex synthesis of a multitude of agents, bringing together multiple conditions such as of program, site, available modes of construction, materiality, economics, culture into a re-sounding whole. If we consider architecture as being fundamentally determined by dynamic structures of information, we need to explore new methodologies for producing architecture that achieve this architectural complex system, recognizing that architecture is as fundamentally informational as it is material. In the field of complex systems, we can use agent-based algorithm to model complex behaviours and visualize specific data. It is a design methodology which follows the bottom-up strategy and is very useful to organize emergent complexity.

During the course, students explored ABM systems and modelling strategies and used them as a design methodology for the development of an architectural project.
