Inspired by the eVolo competition, this semester’s P5.P8 – Integrated Computational + Facade Design module, supervised by Professors Daniel Arztmann and Hans Sachs, invited the students to imagine what is a skyscraper in the 21st century.
The Super Tower could be planned for any major city in Germany, without restrictions of program or size. The main focus is on the environmental responsibilities of such mega-structures. The students should consider the latest advances in technology and sustainable systems to address and solve economic, social and cultural problems of the contemporary city.
The midterm presentation brought different explorations, from 3D printed structures and self-building cells to air pollution absorbing towers.
