As part of the MID study program, our master students visited the BAU trade fair. Since 1964, BAU has taken place every two years at the New Munich Trade Fair Centre and is the world’s leading trade fair for architecture, materials and systems.
The students, together with the MIAD/MID program coordinator Anica Dragutinovic, visited 19 halls and gained an overview of more than 2100 exhibitors. The focus was particularly on networking and discovering new technologies and systems that could be relevant for current and potential future projects. Schüco, the largest partner of our master program, was also represented at BAU. The central exhibition stand caught the eye with its high vertical areas, strong black-and-white contrasts and greenery. The highlights of the stand are the Vertical and Home themes. The façade constructor found an individual and dynamic façade solution that combines functional flexibility and aesthetics. In the home area, Schüco offers solutions that increase living satisfaction and comfort through seamless transitions between the interior and exterior. Current information on Schüco’s presence can be found on its homepage https://www.schueco.com/web2/bau2019?fbclid=IwAR36pXyEnKypG-1UZdbgz1eB3dLNXsqcoFwgDldGfufH9Q4ueLa-88_xNyQ.
Furthermore, the booths of Nemetschek with Allplan, Vectorworks and Cinema4D, the students of HS OWL known as program providers for basic CAD in FB1, were examined in detail.
Under the title “Investieren in die Zukunft”, various players from the fields of existing buildings, research and funding as well as institutes, associations and service providers came together in one hall. The “Zukunft Bau” research initiative of the Federal Institute for Research on Building, Urban Affairs and Spatial Development (Bundesinstitut für Bau-, Stadt- und Raumforschung, BBSR) was also represented here. Every day, expert discussions took place at the fair stands and with an audience as talk at the counter.
